"Oreo and Joan Find Their Way Home" is the fifth edition in the beloved "Oreo" series and this time Oreo has a new companion in her adventures around the neighborhood.
Oreo and Joan go for a walk in the woods and get lost until the sun shows them a familiar path. Oreo leads the way out of the woods as they stop to watch a deer family pass through the trees. As they wander along the path, Joan sings and talks to the birds. They soon find the road home, happy for their adventure and once again finding a comfortable and loving environment.

John Doriot's newest book of poetry, "Spiritual Roots", are brief contemplations reflecting John's faith and how it impacts the way in which he views the world. Family, his beloved dog Oreo, and nature are key themes within his work and hopefully moments in which he is able to connect with the reader.
"The beauty of the world around us is inspiring and I find I am able to find refuge in nature, because within nature, I feel God's presence. I am blessed in many ways - a loving family, a loyal companion who leaves paw prints of compassion in the woods in which we walk, and a strong heart and passion for writing. We all have spiritual roots and I think you will find we share many as you read my new book. Thank you for your kind words of encouragement. I never take them for granted and I am often humbled by them."

"Slowly, I Grow" is the culmination of three years of thoughts, ideas, and emotions. Love, Beauty, Grief, Solace, Prayer, Healing, Awe, Anger, Anxiety, Depression, Hope, Faith, and Joy are all words that could be used to describe the themes of these poems. These moments of reflection often took place in nature as I find refuge in its beauty and I tried to capture its ever-changing moods in words that will fill your heart with joy. I hope you will find my journey reflects your journey at some point in your life, and you will come back to your favorites whenever you feel a reason to do so.

This book was born from a horrible moment in my life. That moment was the day after Thanksgiving when my wife and dog were attacked and my dog almost died. It is a story that demonstrates that as a person of faith, one never knows when God will intervene and provide you with moments of clarity and comfort. This book is a daily journal of 100 days as I experienced pain and sorrow and awareness and joy. Inspired by the poetry of Wendell Berry and influenced by the inspirational writings of C.S. Lewis, this is a document of my journey as I searched for the light. I certainly found it, but I also know it will dim again at times. And though at my darkest, I know I will never be without light. The light that God has imbued into every aspect of the world that surrounds us will resonate within my thoughts and prayers and will be a beacon that I will forever follow. I go through life now with a different way of seeing and I have a little black and white dog to thank for urging me to do so.

Doozy lives in a cozy cabin in the woods and loves to roam those woods with her dog, Smoke. She often gets distracted and forgets the time when playing with her friends and has to walk home through the dark woods. There, she meets a wise old owl who warns her, through the use of idioms, that her parents are anxiously waiting for her at home. Not understanding the meaning of those warnings, Doozy rushes home and finds that the warnings have literally come true. Doozy also has to explain to her unbelieving mother that she is late because of stopping in the woods to have a conversation with an owl. After three separate incidents with the owl, Doozy promises her parents that she has learned her lesson and will not be late getting home again. Children from pre-k to third grade will learn the difference between literal and figurative language, love the story and the wonderful pictures, and laugh a lot as they have a doozy of a time!

I have two new poems published in Four Tulips magazine. Go to right hand corner drop down box, select poetry, and you should see Chaos and Still Daffodil. These poems grew out of Hurricane Helene reflecting nature’s resilience and through nature, we too gather strength, and hear God telling us, we too can move forward.

One of my poems was selected for the first edition of Harrow House Journal. This magazine is a forum for poets to deal with trauma, loss, and grief. My poem, Revelations, arose from my experience with Hurricane Helene. When the first tree hit the house, Jeanne and I and Oreo sat in the middle of our hallway and prayed for three hours. I

My poem, Revelations, arose from my experience with Hurricane Helene. When the first tree hit the house, Jeanne and I and Oreo sat in the middle of our hallway and prayed for three hours. It was a terrifying experience. I admit, I become a bit more anxious these days with thunderstorms. The poems in here are a poignant release for many and I can empathize with their words. I’m honored to be included in this collection

One of my favorite poems I've ever written is now available in Feed The Holy magazine. This one is called Steadfast. I hope you'll enjoy!
